How does a season look like?
The main college tennis season is played in the spring semester and lasts the entire semester. In the beginning, you have a preseason with more practice times and matches against non-conference teams to prepare for league play. After the regular season, in which you can have up to three matches a week, the champion is determined via a play-off styled tournament. The winners advance to the regional and later on to the national championship tournament, that poentially lasts deep into May and even June.
How does a practice look like?
A practice session can last up to three hours, depending on current point of the season. This can include match play, drills, doubles, and individual sessions, as well conditioning and recovery. The timing of a practice session heavaly depends on the coach, the University, availability of courts and the student's lectures. You might want to get used to conditioning at 6am.
